Surfing in Nosara

I can arrange a variety of surf trips to the Nosara area.  Nosara is a great surf spot for all levels of surfers.  I can
arrange surf lessons or recommend some local surf schools.  Also, there are several places to rent shortboards and
longboards near Playa Guiones.

There are other breaks in the area that can offer a little change of pace.  Playa Negra is about an hour north. Playa grande is about two hours
north.  You can arrange a boatride to Witch's Rock and Ollie's Point through Coconut Harry's Surf Shop.  Mal Pais, which has some fun spots,
is about four hours south.  If you are heading back to Jaco Beach, I recommend my good friend Matt's hotel, the Paraiso Del Sol.  Check it out
at
www.paraisodelsolcr.com for rates and info.  Matt has been providing surfers a great deal and a relaxing atmosphere for many years.  Just
five minutes from the barrels of Playa Hermosa!  If you have an afternoon flight, you can get tubes in the morning and have salt water dripping
from your nose on the flight home in the afternoon!

LOCAL SURFERS at Playa Guiones!!!!
Mike C. cruising on the tip!
The main surfing beach near Nosara is actually called Playa Guiones.  The surf at the beachbreak at Playa Guiones usually ranges
from  2-6 feet with calm to offshore winds in the morning and afternoon.  It receives swell from all directions and is usually bigger than
other breaks farther north and south.  It differs from most beachbreaks in that it doesn't pack a punch like most beachbreaks, but it
does offer much longer rides and you don't have to worry about snapping your board on the first day of your trip.  Under 5 feet,  the
surf is best suited for longboards.  Once the surf reaches five feet and above the crowds thin and the better longboarders and
shortboarders will have 30-40 wave sessions.  You will get more waves in one weekend than all year at home!  Most days the surf is
great for all levels.  Beginners and kids can learn in the shorebreak while everybody else catches the outside waves.
Visit  Coconut Harry's Surf Shop  (www.coconutharrys.com) for surf lessons and a great selection of surf gear, board
rentals and souvenirs.   There is also the Nosara Surf Shop, next to the Harmony Hotel.  They also offer board rentals and surf
lessons.  You can also take surf lessons at Corky Carroll's Surf School
www.surfschool.net   or at  Safari Surf School
